We are excited to announce that our theme for the 2020 SLC DevOps Days Conference is “Back to BASIC”.

Here is what that means to our founding board member, Jason Vance:

Since helping to found SLC DevOps Days five years ago, I’ve had the opportunity to travel to many other conferences to get an idea of what other people in the software development industry are accomplishing and the directions they are headed. I’ve also had the wonderful chance ask many people at these conferences why they chose to attend.

Many conferences like to present everyone with the 30,000-foot view of what is involved with successful operations. Many of these speakers are fantastic and have useful perspectives, but they rarely get into the weeds. When they talk about DevOps, they seem to describe a pipeline that seems synchronous and linear.

Throughout my career, I’ve been an individual contributor, team lead, management and Sr. management. I’ve had the honor of watching operational trends and having the chance to analyze and discuss the way people are approaching operational problems. I know DevOps to be a completely asynchronous operation with many highly disciplined and skilled professionals doing amazing work.

We will be announcing speakers for the 2020 SLC DevOps Days event in the next week. If you didn’t have a chance to submit a talk, we also work with the local software engineering community by asking local experts to provide their insights and knowledge and help provide workshops for the 2020 SLC DevOps Days Conference. If you’re interested in leading a workshop for our 2020 event, please drop an email to all@slcdevopsdays.org with your proposal. We look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you for your continued support of our community based DevOps Days events!

Sincerely,

Jason S Vance
